How to make amla chutney

  1. To prepare spicy gooseberry chutney, in a mixer jar take ½ cup deseeded and roughly chopped amla.
  2. Add chopped coriander. Make use of an aromatic bunch with bright green leaves remove the leaves from the stem and discard the stems. Wash thoroughly and roughly chop them. You can also add mint leaves if you like.
  3. Add roughly chopped green chilies. This being a spicy green chutney we are adding 1 tbsp of green chillies, you can add less or more.
  4. Add chopped ginger.
  5. Add cumin seeds.
  6. Add asafoetida and black salt.
  7. Add sugar. Alternatively, you can add jaggery. It will balance the tanginess of avla and make chutney chatpata.
  8. Add salt to taste.
  9. Pour ¼ cup of water.
  10. Blend everything in a mixer till smooth.
  11. Serve amla chutney or store it in an airtight container and refrigerate it.
