To make bread poha recipe | veg bread poha | easy bread poha with tomatoes, onions | heat a little oil in a broad non-stick pan. Once the oil is hot add the mustard seeds. The hot oil releases great flavor from the mustard seeds.
- As soon as the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves (kadi patta). Any sort of tadka has curry leaves added to it for a unique savory, almost citrus like taste.
- Sauté them on a medium flame for a few seconds. Be very attentive at this time as the curry leaves and mustard seeds might burn very fast.
- Once the tadka starts emitting a fragrance, add the onions.
- Also add green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Since I want that spicy kick I have used 1.5 tsp of finely chopped chillies but you can reduce it if you wish.
- After 2 minutes the onions should have become translucent.
- Now add the capsicum and sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes. I have not finely chopped the capsicum as I still want it to have a bite even after cooked.
- Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan.
- Also add a little turmeric powder.
- Sauté on a medium flame for 2 minutes till the tomatoes are cooked.
- Now I will add the bread cubes. To make the bread cubes cut each bread slice in half lengthwise and cut each slice in 3 equal parts. Repeat this for 5 other bread slices.
- Also add the garam masala and salt. This blend of spices gives a very Indian touch to this recipe.
