Pulao is usually associated with rice. However, it could also offer an interesting route to introduce your child to other cereals.


Here, for example, we have made a unique pulao with fibre-rich bulgur wheat in combination with paneer. While paneer is rich in protein and calcium, the addition of carrot adds vitamin A too!

Ingredients

2 tbsp broken wheat (dalia) , washed and drained
1/4 cup paneer (cottage cheese) cubes , preferably made with cow’s milk
1/2 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 cup finely chopped carrot
restricted quantity of salt (optional)

For The Garnish
1 tsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

    Method
  1. Heat the ghee in a pressure cooker and add the cumin seeds.
  2. When the cumin seeds crackle, add the broken wheat and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.
  3. Add the carrots, paneer, salt and ¾ cup of water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  4. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  5. Garnish with coriander and serve lukewarm.

Yummy recipe...my child loved it... Its the perfect consistency for a 10 to 12 month old baby to eat.
