Method
    Method
  1. Clean,wash and soak the rice and moong dal separately in enough water for 1-2 hours.
  2. Pressure cook till the dal and rice are tender.
  3. Blend the mixture using a hand blender to a smooth paste.
  4. Add the jaggery to cooked dal and rice mixture and whisk well.
  5. Heat the ghee in non stick pan, add the cashewnuts and raisins and saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Add to cooked rice and dal mixture, mix well
  7. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Serve hot.

  1. Remember to mix jaggery into the rice and dal mixture when it is hot, so that jaggery melts and mixes easily.

Hello Lopa!I'm Radha from bangalore.I'm reviewing your recipe.This recipe which you have written tastes good but sorry to say that this is not the original recipe of chakkara pongal.When you are grinding rice and dal mixture to a paste then this will become halwa and not pongal.Being a southIndian I would like to say that for chakkara pongal you need not grind the rice and dal mixture to a paste,both the grains should be clearly visible,so I would request u to correct the recipe.
