Ingredients


For The Rice
1 1/2 cups soaked long grained rice (basmati)
3 cups coconut milk
1/4 cup chopped onions
2 sticks of cinnamon (dalchini)
3 cloves (laung / lavang)
2 tbsp ghee
salt to taste

For The Peanut Curry
1 cup fried peanuts
8 to 10 whole dry kashmiri red chillies (soaked in warm waterfor 30 minutes)
1/2 cup tamarind (imli) pulp
4 tbsp sugar
salt to taste

For The Topping
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tbsp chilli powder

Method
For the rice

    For the rice
  1. Heat the ghee in a kadhai, add the cinnamon and cloves and saute for 20 seconds.
  2. Add the onions and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the soaked rice, coconut milk and salt, mix well and cook till rice becomes soft.
  4. Keep aside.

For peanut curry

    For peanut curry
  1. Combine all the ingredients and blend in a mixer into a smooth paste.
  2. Heat the oil in a small pan and add the red chilli powder.
  3. Spread on the peanut curry and serve hot with coconut rice
