Fruits Vadai it is dumplings made out of dals and fruits. Instead of grinding the fruits, we can add as chopped bits (finely) so that crispiness will increase. Can add deseeded chikoo and custard apple too.

For The Vadais
100 gms moong dal (split green gram)
50 gms chana dal (split bengal gram)
1 tbsp black urad dal (split black lentils)
100 gms toovar (arhar) dal
1 cup grated coconut
1 banana
2 dates (khajur)
1/4 cup chopped jackfruit
1 pinch cardamom (elaichi) powder
oil for deep frying

For The Sugar Syrup
1 cup sugar

    For the vadais
  1. Wash and soak all the dals for 4 hours.
  2. Grind the soaked dals with the coconut to a thick consistency. Add little water only if required. Keep aside.
  3. Grind the fruits without water and mix it with the grounded dal mixture and mix well.
  4. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  5. Heat the oil in a pan, make small vadais from the batter and deep fry till it turns to golden brown in colour.
  6. Fry till golden brown.

  1. Combine the sugar along with 1/2 cup of water in non-stick pan and bring to a boil till it is syrup consistency.

How to Proceed

  1. Soak the vadais in a sugar syrup for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Remove from the syrup and serve.
