For Green Pea Pancakes
1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , soaked for 30 minutes and drain
1 cup green peas
1 1/2 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
salt to taste
2 1/2 tsp peanut oil for greasing and cooking

Method

    For green pea pancakes
  1. To make green pea pancakes, combine the soaked and drained moon dal, green peas, chillies, coriander and ginger and blend in a mixer using little water to make a thick batter.
  2. Transfer the batter into a deep bowl, add the onions and salt and mix well.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it using ¼ tsp oil.
  4. Pour a spoonful of the batter on it and spread in a circular motion to make 120 mm. (5”) thick round.
  5. Cook, using ¼ tsp of oil, till it turns light brown in colour from both the sides.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 9 more green pea pancakes.
  7. Serve the green pea pancakes immediately with carrot garlic chutney.

Method for Green Peas Pancakes

  1. For making the batter for Green Peas Pancake, firstly clean and wash the yellow moong dal. If you have green moong dal, you can use that too. Moong dal is rich in protein and dietary fibres.   2. Soak them in enough water for 30 minutes.
  3. After half an hour, strain them and drain off the excess water.
  4. Transfer the drained moong dal in a mixer jar.
  5. Add the peas. We have not cooked them before adding. You can make use of fresh or frozen matar depending upon the availability.
  6. Also, add chillies. Increase or reduce the quantity to suit your taste buds.
  7. Add the coriander and ginger. If you have green-chiillie & ginger paste ready, then you can toss that in.
  8. Add 1 cup of water and blend to make a thick batter.
  9. Transfer the Green Peas Pancake batter into a deep bowl.
  10. Add the onions and salt. Also, you can other vegetables like carrot, French bean, cabbage, capsicum to the green pea pancake batter.
  11. Mix well and our batter for mutter pancake is finally ready.
  12. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it using ¼ tsp oil. Alternatively, you can use olive oil or ghee to cook the pea pancake. If you have a mini uttapam pan, then make use of it to make mini pea pancakes.
  13. Pour a spoonful of the Green Peas Pancake batter on it.
  14. Spread in a circular motion to make 120 mm. (5”) thick round. You can make in any size and shape as you desire.
  15. Cook the Green Peas Pancake on one side.
  16. Flip and cook using ¼ tsp of oil. Press it lightly with the help of a flat spoon to cook it evenly.
  17. Cook the Green Peas Pancake till it turns brown in colour from both the sides.
  18. Remove in a plate.
  19. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 9 more Green Peas Pancake.
  20. Serve the Green Peas Pancake immediately with carrot garlic chutney.
