  1. Cook the dal separately with 2 cups of water.
  2. Heat the ghee on a tava, add the onion and cumin seeds and fry for at least 2 minutes.
  3. Add the cooked dal, the greens, amchur powder, tomato, turmeric powder, chilli powder, paste and salt and cook for a few minutes.
  4. Serve hot.

I make it a point to include this dal as a part of the menu whenever I have guests...it it easy to make, looks very appealing to the eye and last but not the least it is YUMMY!!!

I love this simple recipe for masoor dal. My kids are not big fans of plain old masoor dal but this recipe turns masoor dal into something quite magical. Fabulous on taste and incredibly simple this is a good recipe to have handy when you are short for time and ideas on what to cook. I use dried fenugreek as its not always easy to find fresh methi leaves where I live and it works just as well.
