You will benefit from drinking the water squeezed from the karela. To reduce its bitter taste, mix with a glass of water or tomato juice. Though slightly high in calories and fat, it contains other beneficial nutrients in abundance, making this a well-balanced meal in itself. Karela Tikkis in Kadhai Chole, Healthy Diabetic Recipe recipe - How to make Karela Tikkis in Kadhai Chole, Healthy Diabetic Recipe Tags Chaat Non-stick PanDiabetic Starters & Snacks Soaking time: overnight Preparation Time: 25 mins   Cooking Time: 30 mins   Total Time: 5358 hours 55 minutes    Makes 4 servings Show me for servings Ingredients For The Karela Tikkis (makes 8 Tikkis)1/2 cup grated bitter gourd (karela)3/4 cup grated carrot1/4 cup crumbled low fat paneer (cottage cheese)3/4 cup boiled and mashed green peas1/4 cup whole wheat bread crumbs1 tbsp dried mango powder (amchur)2 tsp finely chopped green chillies2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) salt to taste2 tsp oil for cookingFor The Kadhai Chole1 cup kabuli chana (white chick peas) salt to taste1 tea bag1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)2 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste finely chopped onion1/2 cup chopped tomatoes2 tsp kabuli chana (white chick peas) masala1 tsp chilli powder1 tsp dried mango powder (amchur)1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)2 tsp coriander (dhania) powder1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder1 tsp oil salt to tasteTo Be Mixed Together Into Onion Mixture For Serving1 cup sliced onions1 lemon salt to taste2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)Other Ingredients dates (khajur) fresh tamarind (imli) ki chutneyFor The Garnish1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) Method For the karela tikkisFor the karela tikkisApply a little salt to the bitter gourd and keep aside for a while. Squeeze and drain out the water.Combine the bitter gourd, carrots, paneer, green peas, bread crumbs, dry mango powder, green chillies, coriander and salt together in a bowl and mix well.Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into round, flat tikkis.Heat a non-stick pan, cook each tikki using ¼ tsp oil till both sides are golden brown. Keep aside.For the choleFor the choleClean, wash and soak the kabuli chana overnight in enough water.Drain, 2 cups of water, salt and tea bag and pressure-cook them till they are soft.
