Ingredients


For Nourishing Moong Soup
1/2 cup moong (whole green gram)
1 tsp oil
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
2 tsp lemon juice

For The Garnish
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. Clean and wash the moong, add 5 cups of water and pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, asafoetida and moong(along with water), mix well and bring to boil.
  5. Add the lemon juice and mix well. Serve the nourishing moong soup hot garnished with coriander.

  1. To enhance the nutritive value of the nourishing moong soup, add ¼ cup of low-fat chopped paneer and ¼ cup of grated carrots after step 4 and simmer till the carrots are tender.

How to make Nourishing Moong Soup

  1. Clean and wash the moong to get rid of any dirt.

  3. Add the ¼ cup low-fat chopped paneer and mix well.
  4. Now, add the lemon juice and mix well.
  5. Serve the Nourishing moong soup with grated carrots and chopped paneer immediately.

Can I drink this as a meal replacement? Or will I get hungry again in an hour? Also, your recipes are fantastic! I have seen that even if I don''t have 1-2 ingredients in your recipes they still come out very well. :)

For d 1st time I cooked from the tarla dalal recipes...n this soup just taste yummy...with such yum soup recipes I am sure I will b able to continue my diet till my target weight is achieved...thank u so much for this lovely recipe@-}--
