Ingredients


1/2 kg mixed vegetables (Carrots, French Beans, Potatoes, Cauliflower)
1/2 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
2 cups water
salt to taste
1 tbsp butter or cream
1/2 " piece of ginger (adrak)

Method

  1. Soak channa dal for 1/2 hour
  2. Peel potatoes & carrots.
  3. Cut them in big chunks
  4. Put vegetables, dal, ginger and water in a pressure cooker.
  5. Pressure cook them for 2 whistles.
  6. Puree the veg. with a hand blender when cooked.
  7. Strain it. (omit this if you like a bit thick soup)
  8. Mix salt.
  9. Pour soup in bowls.
  10. If using butter just put a blob of it in soup.
  11. If using cream take some in a spoon and drop it in the bowl in a circular motion.
  12. Serve hot.
