Ingredients


For Anjeer Halwa
1 1/4 cups dried figs (anjeer)
3 tbsp ghee
1/2 cup blanched , peeled and coarsely powdered almonds (badam)
4 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp milk powder
1/4 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder

For The Garnish
1 tbsp almond (badam) slivers

Method
For anjeer halwa

    For anjeer halwa
  1. To make {span class="bold1"}anjeer halwa{/span}, boil enough water in a saucepan, add the figs, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes or till they turn soft, while stirring occasionally.
  2. Drain it using a strainer.
  3. Blend in a mixer to a smooth paste using approx. ¼ cup of water. Keep the fis purée aside.
  4. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai, add the powdered almonds, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  5. Add the puréed figs, milk powder, sugar and ½ cup of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  6. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  7. Serve the {span class="bold1"}anjeer halwa{/span} hot garnished with almond slivers.

how to blanch and coarsely crush almonds

  1. Heat enough water in a deep non-stick pan.
  2. Add 1 cup almonds (badam) . For making this recipe you only need to blanch one cup to get half cup blanched and coarsely crushed almonds.
  3. Boil on a high flame for 3 to 4 minutes. 
  4. Switch off the flame, keep it aside for 5 minutes. 
  5. Drain the almonds.
  6. Peel the skin of almonds.
  7. Place the peeled almonds on a muslin cloth.
  8. Dry them completely.
  9. Transfer the almonds in a mixer.
  10. Blend in a small mixer jar till coarse in 2 batches. Keep aside.

  16. Add 1/4 tsp cardamom powder.
  17. Mix well.
  18. Serve anjeer halwa hot.

Can we replace milk powder with full cream milk
