This biscuits are soft and not like our Indian biscuits.
they go well with a bowl of soup. (any soup)
you can eat'em as snack too.
do not overdo this biscuits as they do not taste good.

Ingredients

1 cup plain flour (maida)
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp crushed black pepper
2 tbsp vegetable shortening (Dalda vegetable ghee)
1/4 cup plus 1 teaspoon buttermilk
handful of spring onions (optional)
1/2 cup cheddar or parmesan cheese
Method


  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees f.(180-200 degrees c).
  2. In a mixing bowl,combine the dry ingredients and blend thoroughly.
  3. Cream in the shortening with your fingers or a fork,until the mixture
  4. Resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Add the buttermilk a little at a time and, using your hands or
  6. A fork, work it in just until its thoroughly incorporated
  7. And you have a smooth ball of dough.
  8. Do not overwork or overhandle the dough.
  9. Lightly floured surface, rollout the dough with a rolling pin
  10. To a circle about inches in diameter, 1/2-inch thick.
  11. Using a small round cookie cutter or the rim of a shot glass, press
  12. Out twelve 1-inch rounds.
  13. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake until golden brown,
  14. About 15 minutes.
