To Be Ground Into A Paste
1 cup coriander (dhania)
2 tsp chopped ginger (adrak)
1 tbsp garlic (lehsun)
2 green chillies
1 medium sized onion
salt to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice

Other Ingredients
2 tbsp ghee
1 cup long grained rice (basmati)
1/3 cup tomato puree
1 cup coconut milk
1 tbsp milk
a pinch of sugar
4 cloves (laung / lavang)
4 cardamoms
1 small stick cinnamon (dalchini)

For The Garnish
chopped coriander (dhania)

  1. Soak the rice for an hour.
  2. Heat the ghee in a pan, add the rice and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the tomato puree and the grounded paste, mix well and saute for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the coconut milk and milk, mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
  5. Add the sugar, cloves, cardamom and cinnamon, mix well and cook till the rice is completely cooked.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
