Just before steaming you can add Eno to the batter if you wish to. Add 1 to 2 tbsp of warm water on it. As soon as bubbles form, mix the batter gently.

Is this a soft diet for typhoid patient?

As soft diet for a typhoid patient at first instance should include foods like banana, boiled rice, baked potato, boiled eggs, stewed or baked apple etc. When there is no fever, you can include other fruits and boiled vegetables too. Once you can digest these foods you can move to a recovery diet which an include this rice and moong dal idli to make up for your protein requirement.

You can avoid the fruit salt, but the idli might turn a little hard. In this case you need to serve it to your child immediately after cooking. Or use a pinch of fruit salt instead of 1 tsp.
