Makes 8 ladoos
For Oats and Mixed Nuts Ladoo
1 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1 tbsp finely chopped walnuts (akhrot)
1 tbsp finely chopped almonds (badam)
2 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
2 tsp ghee
2 tbsp chopped jaggery (gur)
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
2 tbsp low fat milk , 99.7% fat-free
For oats and mixed nuts ladoo
- For oats and mixed nuts ladoo
- To make {span class="bold1"}oats and mixed nuts ladoo{/span}, heat a broad non-stick pan, add the oats and dry roast on a medium flame for 3 minutes. Remove and keep aside to cool completely.
- Heat the same broad non-stick pan, add the sesame seeds and dry roast them on a medium flame for 2 minutes. Keep aside to cool completely.
- Heat the ghee and jaggery in the same broad non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a slow flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.
- Transfer the jaggery mixture into a flat thali and allow it to cool slightly.
- Add the roasted oats, roasted sesame seeds, walnuts, almonds and cardamom powder and mix very well.
- Add the milk and mix very well.
- Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and roll out each portion into a round ball.
- Serve the {span class="bold1"}oats and mixed nuts ladoo{/span} immediately.

For Oats and mixed nuts ladoo, first select the perfect rolled oats. Whether purchasing oats in bulk or in a packaged container, make sure there is no evidence of moisture. If it is in packaged form then check for the expiry date.

Place 1 cup quick cooking rolled oats in a broad non-stick pan.

Dry roast oats on a low flame ( to medium flame) for 3 minutes while stirring continuously. If you find the oats turning black very quickly then use a low flame. The oats used for this recipe are quick cooking rolled oats which are partially cooked. So ensure to use a broad non-stick pan for roasting the oats. Also try and roast them on a slow flame and keep stirring continuously while roasting them.

Remove them on a plate and allow them to cool completely.

Meanwhile, place 2 tbsp sesame seeds (til) in the same non-stick pan.

Dry roast sesame seeds (til) on a medium flame for 2 minutes.

Remove them on a plate with oats and allow them to cool completely as well.

Next to make oats laddu, add 2 tsp ghee in the same broad non-stick pan.

Add 2 tbsp chopped jaggery (gur) to it. This will lend natural sweetness to the oats nuts laddu.

Mix both the ingredients ( ghee and jaggery) and cook them on a slow flame for 1 minute. Remember to keep stirring it continuously.

Transfer the jaggery mixture into a flat thali and allow it to cool slightly.

Add the roasted oats and sesame seeds to it.

Add the finely chopped walnuts also. These are a good source of omeaga-3 fatty acids.

Add 1 tbsp finely chopped almonds (badam) too. These are a good source of protein.

Add 1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder for added flavour.

Mix very well using your hands.

Add little milk. This will help in binding the Oats dry fruits ladoo.

When I try to Roast Oats, they get fried immediately and become black(with in few seconds). why is it so ? Also, can you show same with khajur instead of jaggery ?

Tasty, healthy and crunchy ladoos !
Usually all the recipes on the website are foolproof and I follow them blindly to have a perfect dish. But in this one, I was a bit apprehensive about step 3&4 but yet followed it..turned out, the jaggery hardened on heating and slightly cooling and couldn''t be mixed with other ingredients. So I again took 4 spoons of jaggery and just blended in mixer with ingredients. Tasted fine as well, but tedious to roll into laddoos.
This recipe sounded so good that I was tempted to try it immediately after reading it.Also I had all the ingredients at home.It was simply delicious, quick and easy to prepare.Thanks for sharing.
