To make spicy corn chaat recipe

  1. Every time I go out to watch movies, I make sure I relish some piping hot buttered sweet corn sold at the kiosk in the theater. So, one fine day I tried making a similar version just that I wanted it to be filling so, added some vegetables that were available in my refrigerator.
  2. Give a quick rinse to the corn kernels using water. If you are using fresh corncob then separate the kernels or simply break the cob into two and pressure cook it. Boil the sweet corn kernels in water for 6-7 minutes or until they become soft. You can also microwave them for 2-3 minutes instead. Don’t forget to add salt while boiling them. Drain and keep aside.
  3. To make masala corn at home, heat the butter in a broad non-stick pan and add the corn. The cooking time is very important in this recipe because the corn must retain a bit of its crunch, should be moderately cooked and should not become dry. Butter can be substituted with olive oil.
  4. Sauté on a medium flame for 3 minutes. They will get a light brown shade and shiny glaze on sautéing. When corn is not in season, you can use frozen corn kernels.
  5. Switch off the flame and add the chilli powder immediately.
  6. Now add the lemon juice. Chaat masala and amchur powder can also be used as a substitute.
  7. Season with salt and pepper & mix well.
  8. Cool slightly and put the corn mixture into a serving plate.
  9. Top it with the onions.
  10. Then some tomatoes.
