Sundal is a favourite with young and old alike in South India. Tossing this healthy snack with cooked rice turns out a quick, easy and filling meal!
Sundal Rice recipe - How to make Sundal Rice
Preparation Time: 10 Minutes Cooking Time: 7 Minutes Total Time:
Makes 4 servings
1 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
2 whole dry kashmiri red chillies , broken into pieces
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1 cup boiled kala chana (brown chick peas) sprouts
2 1/2 cups cooked long grained rice (basmati rice)
1/2 cup freshly grated coconut
2 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
Method
- Main Procedure
- Heat the oil in a kadhai and add the mustard seeds and urad dal.
- When the seeds crackle, add all the remaining ingredients, toss gently and cook on a slow flame for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Serve hot.
