Veg Club Sandwich recipe with step by step photos
Recipe Notes for Veg Club Sandwich-
Instead of white bread loaf, you can also make the Veg Club Sandwich using Whole Wheat Bread or Multigrain Bread.

In the batter for the Tomato Omelette you can use green chilli paste instead of chopped green chillies and you can also add some carom seeds (ajwain) it adds an aromatic pungent flavour and is also good for health.

Paneer slices can also be grilled in an oven or griller. Paneer is cooked to remove the raw taste of the paneer and make it more flavourful.

The Veg Club sandwich can also be made with fresh soft bread and the toasted on a tava or a grill or can be had as it is without toasting.

In the coleslaw we have used sandwich mayonnaise but you can use the normal mayonnaise or any other flavour, the choice is totally yours. Here is a recipe for eggless homemade mayonnaise.

Making the batter for Tomato Omelette-
For making the tomato omelette for the Veg Club Sandwich, we will first take besan in a deep bowl to make the batter for the tomato omelette, which is used to stuff one of the layers of the Veg Club Sandwich.

Add ½ cup finely chopped tomatoes to it.

Add finely chopped coriander and green chillies.

Add cumin seeds powder and turmeric powder.

Add a pinch of asafoetida, chilli powder and salt to taste.

Using around ¾ cup of water, mix well to make a batter of pouring consistency.
Making the Tomato Omelette for the Club Sandwich-
Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly with oil.

Pour a ladleful of the batter on the tava (griddle) and spread in a circular motion to make a 125 mm. (5”) diameter circle.

Cook on a medium flame, using a little oil.

Flip the tomato omelette and cook on the other side, using little oil. Cook till golden brown spots appear on both the sides.

Once cooked remove on a plate and keep aside. Similarly make the remaining tomato omelettes.
Grilling the Paneer for the Veg Club Sandwich-
Grease the same tava with a little oil again and carefully place the paneer slices over it.

Brush some oil over the paneer slices.

Gently turn over the paneer slices and let it cook on the other side.

Sprinkle some salt and pepper powder over the paneer slices, so it does not taste bland. Remove the charred and crisp paneer on a plate and keep aside.
Making the Coleslaw for the Veg Club Sandwich-
For making the coleslaw for the Veg Club Sandwich, take shredded cabbage in a deep bowl.

Add the grated carrot. Also, you can add thinly sliced onions and capsicum.

Add mayonnaise.

Add tomato ketchup. If you don't like a slightly tangy coleslaw, then skip adding the ketchup.

Add salt and pepper powder to taste.

Mix well and keep aside.
How to make Veg Club Sandwich-
Place 4 toasted bread slices on a clean dry surface.

Apply butter on one toasted bread.

Spread a portion of the coleslaw evenly over it.

Spread some shredded lettuce over the coleslaw and keep aside.

On the second toasted bread slice, spread 1 tsp of red garlic chutney evenly over it.

Trim the edges of the tomato omelette and cut it of the same size of the toasted bread slice.

Place this square tomato omelette on the second toasted bread slice over the garlic chutney.

Place 4 onion slices evenly over it and sprinkle a little salt and pepper evenly over it.

Now place this second toasted bread slice over the first toasted bread slice containing coleslaw.

On the third toasted bread slice spread ½ tbsp of green chutney evenly over it.

Arrange 3 paneer slices over it.

Top it with 4 cucumber slices.

Place 3 tomato slices evenly over it.
-
Then sprinkle a little salt and pepper evenly over it.

Place this third toasted bread slice over the second toasted bread slice containing the tomato omelette and onions.

Apply 1 tsp of butter evenly over the fourth toasted bread slice.

Place it over the third toasted bread slice containing paneer with the buttered side facing downwards and press it lightly.

Insert big satay toothpicks on the opposite corners of the sandwich to hold the sandwich properly.

With a sharp knife cut the Veg Club sandwich into half diagonally.

Serve the Veg Club Sandwich immediately with tomato ketchup and potato wafers.
