Bandaru Laddu is a traditional Indian sweet recipe prepared from roasted gram flour or besan, murukku powder, green cardamoms and fried cashews.

Ingredients


2 cups besan (Bengal gram flour)
5 tbsp oil + more to deep fry
1 tbsp ghee
15 cashewnuts (kaju)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder

Method

  1. Heat five tablespoons of oil and add to gram flour. mix well and knead into a firm dough using enough water.
  2. Chop cashewnuts. heat ghee, add chopped cashewnuts and fry till golden brown. drain onto an absorbent paper.
  3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. using a murukku press, press the dough directly into the hot oil. fry till golden brown. drain onto an absorbent paper. use up all the dough similarly.
  4. Powder the fried murukkusand measure
  5. Take equal measure of sugar and make a syrup of one thread consistency.
  6. Add the fried murukku powder, green cardamom powder and fried cashewnuts and mix well. take it off the heat.
  7. Smear ghee on your palms and shape into lemon sized laddoos.
  8. Cool and store.
