Let us wave our magic wands and turn boring chapatis into exciting frankies! And guess what, we are going to use all your favourite veggies and yummy paneer too. With the addition of peppy chaat masala and a bit of handiwork, the veggies turn into a tasty filling, which is tightly rolled up into the chapatis to make Chat Pati Frankies.

Enjoy it fresh, with a dash of tomato ketchup and a glass of Coconut and Orange Drink .

Chat Pati Frankies recipe - How to make Chat Pati Frankies

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:    Makes 4 frankies

Ingredients

4 chapatis (7”) each
2 boiled potatoes
1/2 cup grated paneer (cottage cheese)
1/2 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup grated processed cheese
2 tsp chaat masala
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
oil for greasing and cooking
16 capsicum strips
12 tomato strips

For Serving
tomato ketchup

Method
    Method
  1. Peel and mash the boiled potatoes using a masher.
  2. Put the mashed potatoes in a bowl, add the paneer, carrot, cheese, 1 tsp chaat masala, lemon juice and little salt and mix well using your hands.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into an oblong roll.
  4. Grease a non-stick tava (griddle) with little oil and cook the rolls using a little more oil till both sides turn brown in colour. Keep aside.
  5. Warm the chapatis and place them on a serving plate.
  6. Place a chapati on a clean, dry board.
  7. Place the roll in the centre of the chapati.
  8. Place 4 capsicum strips, 3 tomato strips and a little chaat masala evenly over it.
  9. Roll the frankie tightly.
  10. Repeat steps 6 to 9 to make 3 more frankies.
  11. Serve immediately with tomato ketchup.

Does this frankie or any other frankie can stay till lunch time if given in lunch box? Chapatti will b soften & wont b eatable. My daughter loves frankie, but cannot give in breakfast (10 am) & lunch (12.30pm) Pls pls suggest that how to make frankie that will not get soggy

A quick tiffin treat for kids. My kids loved the concept of frankies and this too was just yum for them.

Easy and healthy...although I think it would have been better to use at least grilled or blanched capsicum...can also add boiled sweet corn and spring onions with some soy and chilli sauce to have a Chinese twist
