Full rice uppuma is prepared in traditional way by cooking together rice with green gram and seasoning it with mustard seeds and green chillies.
Full Rice Uppuma recipe - How to make Full Rice Uppuma
Preparation Time: 20 miutes Cooking Time: Total Time:
1 cup rice (chawal)
1/4 cup moong dal (split green gram)
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 1/2 cups water
salt to taste
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson) and urad dal (split black lentils)
2 whole dry kashmiri red chillies
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp sugar
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
Method
- Fry the green gram and rice separately in a kadai (do not add oil).
- It should not become reddish brown
- Wash it in water and strain. keep aside
- Take the pressure pan , add oil and fry the mustard, urad dhal and red chilly
- Add the rice, green gram, water, salt sugar and coconut and pressure cook with the whistle on. switch off after 2 whistles
- Serve hot with tomato or mint chutney
