Gulpapta comes straight from grandma's closet of healthy and tasty recipes. The gulpapata is made from a mix of flours which are roasted and then cooked with sugar, cardamom, chopped nuts and enjoyed shaped as balls.
Gulpapta recipe - How to make Gulpapta
Preparation Time: Cooking Time: 20 mints. Total Time:
2 cups wheat (gehun)
1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
1 cup toovar (arhar) dal
1 cup moong dal (split green gram)
1 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1 cup rice (chawal)
1 1/2 to 2 cups jaggery (gur) (for each cup of pounded flour)
1/4 to1/2 cup water
ghee as required to get a soft ball
grated coconut as required (optional)
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
cashewnuts (kaju) , melon seeds (charmagaz) , red pumkin seeds, sesame seeds (til) , chironji -as required.
Method
- Dry roast wheat,dals nd rice seperately,until good smell eminates.
- Mix all the ingredients together.mill,pound or run in a mixie. sieve.
- Dry roast the nuts.
- Seperately nd keep aside.
- Melt the jaggery with little water.seive.add the pounded flour nd keep stirring until there are no lumps.
- Melt ghee add the prepared flour nuts,copra,elachi powder and mix well and fry for a while until it starts to emit good aroma.
- Make ball or circles when the mixture is still warm.
