Pressure cook the dal on medium-high. do not pressure cook it more than 1 whistle or add too much water else, the dal will become like a soup.
moong dal is easy to cook as well as easy to digest.
Healthy moong delight recipe - How to make Healthy moong delight
Cooking Time: Total Time:
1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1/4 cup chopped capsicum
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup spring onions
1/4 cup chopped cucumber
salt to taste
cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
coriander (dhania) powder as required
chilli powder (optional)
2 tsp lemon juice
1/8 cup water (just enough to pressure cook the dal)
Method
- Soak the moong dal overnight or atleast for 5 hrs.
- Drain the moong dal.
- Take a pressure cooker, add 1 tsp oil.
- When the oil is hot, add hing, jeera (seeds should crackle), corriander & the red chilli powder.
- Add the vegetables and saute for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the moong dal and mix the masala and vegetables.
- Add the lemon juice and salt to taste.
- Add as little water as possible, just enough to pressure cook the dal upto 1 whistle.
- Wait till the steam from the pressure cooker has escaped, open and serve the moong delight.
