Ingredients


For The Stuffing
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 tbsp ginger-green chilli paste
2 potatoes , boiled and cut into pieces
salt to taste
other ingrdients
2 cups idli batter
1/4 tsp sesame seeds (til)
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
2 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
4 curry leaves (kadi patta)

  1. Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the urad dal and fry till it turns light brown.
  2. Add the ginger-green chilli paste, potatoes and salt, mix well and remove from the flame. Keep aside.

  1. Grease the plate of dhokla with oil.
  2. Pour 1 cup idli batter.
  3. Place the stuffing on it , again place 1 cup of idli batter on it.
  4. Sprinkle til and black pepper powder on it.
  5. Steam the dhoklas for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from the flame cut the dhoklas into pieces. Keep aside.
  7. Heat the oil in kadhai add the mustard seeds when they crakle, add curry leaves and saute for few seconds.
  8. Remove from the flame and pour the tempering on top of the prepared dhoklas.
  9. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
