Boiled dahiwada offers a low cal and healthy alternative to otherwise fried dahi vadas. The vadas are steamed and then served with curd and spice mix.
Boiled Dahiwada recipe - How to make Boiled Dahiwada

for vadas :
1/2 cup chana dal (split bengal gram), soaked for 3 hours
1/2 cup white urad dal, soaked for 3 hours
1/2 cup moong dal (split yellow gram), soaked for 3 hours
ginger-green chilli paste to taste
1 tsp sugar
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
1 tbsp lemon juice
a pnch of baking soda
for serving :
1 ltr curds (dahi)
salt to taste
chilli powder
cumin seeds (jeera) powder
finely chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
Khajur Imli ki Chutney
for tempering
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
few curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tsp oil
Method
- In a blender , blend coarsly all the 3 dals with very little water.
- Add green chilly ginger paste , salt , sugar , hing , soda bi carb , lemon juice and mix well .
- Shape into vadas and steam for 10 mins .
- Soak the vadas for 3-5 mins in water .
- Squeeze out excess water and arrange in a deep serving tray .
- Blend the curd , add salt to taste
- Heat oil and add all ingredients for tempering and add the tempering to the curd
- Pour the curd over the vadas
- Garnish with chopped corriander leaves , red chilly powder & jeera powder
