Makes 1 serving
500 gms bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki) , peeled and chopped
5 shallots (madras onions)
1 tomato , chopped
2 tbsp yellow moong dal (split yellow gram)
1 tbsp rice (chawal)
3 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
1 tsp chopped ginger (adrak)
1 tsp garam masala
salt to taste
1 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds powder
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 cup fresh cream

- Method
- In a pressure cooker, add 2 glasses of water, bottle gournd pieces, onions, tomato, yellow moong dal, rice, ginger, garli, pepper and salt, mix well and pressure cook for 1 whistle.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Blend using a hand blender till smooth and strain the mixture using a sieve.
- Bring the soup to boil, add the garam masala, coriander powder and pepper, mix well and bring to boil.
- Serve hot garnished with cream.
