It's a great summer cooler, date shake with the combination of vanila ice cream topped with whipped cream and cherry.

Date Shake recipe - How to make Date Shake

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:    Makes 4 servings

Ingredients

2 cups roughly coarsely chopped dates (khajur)
2 cups milk
4 scoops vanilla ice cream
8 tsp whipped cream (optional)
4 cherries

Method
    Method
  1. Combine the dates with 1 cup of milk and blend in a mixer till smooth.
  2. Add the remaining 1 cup of milk and vanilla ice cream and blend again till smooth and slushy.
  3. Pour into a tall and chilled glass.
  4. Top each glass with 2 tsp whipped cream and a cherry.
  5. Serve immediately.

    Handy tip
  1. Use preferably medjool dates. Other dates have thicker skins and don't blend easily

Variations:

    Variations:
  1. Chocolate date shake: add 3-4 tsp of chocolate syrup at step 2.
  2. Chocolate chip shake: substitute chocolate chip ice cream for the vanilla ice cream.
  3. Orange date shake: substitute orange juice for milk.
