Ingredients

1 cup poppy seeds (khus-khus) , soaked
1 cup almonds (badam) , soaked
1/2 cup finely chopped dry dates (kharek)
1/4 cup edible gum (gaund)
1/2 cup dessicated coconut
1 tbsp semolina (rava)
2 tbsp chopped almonds (badam)
100 gms ghee
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
water as required

  1. Drain water from poppy seeds and almonds, remove skin from almonds then make a fine paste in mixer with help of water required.
  2. Heat ghee in frying pan and deep fry the edible gum.
  3. Heat 3 tbsp ghee in kadhai, add the semolina poppy seeds-almond paste and saute well.

  5. Now add the died dates and roast for approx 25-30 minutes or till it became golden brown, if needed add more ghee, stir continually it should not be burnt.
  6. Add some water and sugar, mix well and then add the chopped kaju-badam and cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  7. Remove form the flame, add the coconut and fried gond, cardamom powder and mix well.
  8. Serve hot.
