Ingredients


For The Koftas
1 1/2 cups grated cabbage
1/2 cup potatoes , boiledand mashed
1 cup whole egg
1 egg yolk
3/4 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
3/4 tsp crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
salt to taste
3/4 cup dessicated coconut for coating
oil for deep frying

For The Gravy
2 tbsp oil
1 large onion , sliced
3 large tomatoes , grated
1 tbsp garlic (lehsun) , crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
3/4 tsp fresh red chillies , crushed
1 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1 tsp crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
1 1/2 cups curds (dahi)
3 tsp chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing

Method
For the Koftas

    For the Koftas
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into equal sized balls.
  3. Roll each kofta in the desiccated coconut so that they are coated evenly from all the sides.
  4. Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep fry each koftas till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
  5. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

For the gravy

  1. Heat the oil in kadhai, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame till they turn translucent.
  2. Add the tomatoes, garlic, chilli powder, fresh chillies, coriander powder, cumin seeds, turmeric and salt, mx well and cook on a medium flame for few minutes.
  3. Add the curds along with 1½ cup of water , mix well and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes.

  1. Add the koftas to the gravy, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  2. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
