Green Koftas recipe - How to make Green Koftas

Makes 5 to 6 servings
For The Koftas
1 1/2 cups grated cabbage
1/2 cup potatoes , boiledand mashed
1 cup whole egg
1 egg yolk
3/4 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
3/4 tsp crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
salt to taste
3/4 cup dessicated coconut for coating
oil for deep frying
For The Gravy
2 tbsp oil
1 large onion , sliced
3 large tomatoes , grated
1 tbsp garlic (lehsun) , crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
3/4 tsp fresh red chillies , crushed
1 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
1 tsp crushed cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
1 1/2 cups curds (dahi)
3 tsp chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing

- For the Koftas
- Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into equal sized balls.
- Roll each kofta in the desiccated coconut so that they are coated evenly from all the sides.
- Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep fry each koftas till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
- Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

- Heat the oil in kadhai, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame till they turn translucent.
- Add the tomatoes, garlic, chilli powder, fresh chillies, coriander powder, cumin seeds, turmeric and salt, mx well and cook on a medium flame for few minutes.
- Add the curds along with 1½ cup of water , mix well and cook on a medium flame for 8 to 10 minutes.

- Add the koftas to the gravy, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
- Serve hot garnished with coriander.
