A tangy gingery salad that's delicately flavoured with coconut, lime juice, ginger and served topped with fried onions. Add a dash of sugar to smoothen the sharpness of the lemon juice. Relish it before your meal with a chilled iced tea.

Makes 4 servings
1 1/2 cups raw papaya , peeled and thickly grated
1 cup finely sliced cabbage
4 tbsp freshly grated coconut
1/2 tsp chopped ginger (adrak)
1/4 cup roasted and salted peanuts , crushed
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 to 2 fresh red chillies , sliced
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
salt to taste
a pinch of sugar (optional)
For Topping
3 tbsp fried onions
Method
- Main procedure
- Mix all the ingredients except the fried onions.
- Top the salad with fried onions and serve immediately.
