Rice payasam or rice kheer is prepared by mixing rice with condensed and sweetened milk. A traditional kheer or payasam recipe, rice payasam is best served cold, garnished with chopped nuts.
Rice Payasam recipe - How to make Rice Payasam

1 cup rice (chawal)
1 ltr milk
3 to 4 cashewnuts (kaju)
3 to 4 raisins (kismis)
3 to 4 almonds (badam)
2 cardamoms (elaichi), powdered
6 to 8 tbsp sugar
2 tsp ghee
Method
- Fry rice lightly in ghee & keep aside
- Fry the dry fruits also in a similar manner
- Mix the dry fruits, rice & sugar
- Add crushed elaichi
- Add milk & cook on slow fire
- Till rice is done.
- Serve it either hot
- Or chill
