A simple and delicious recipe of idlis sprinkled with lots of sesame seed powder. A quick snack to make.
Sesame Idlis recipe - How to make Sesame Idlis
Preparation Time: 5 mts Cooking Time: 15 mts Total Time:
15 to 20 Idlis (cold)
3 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
2 tbsp roasted peanuts and coarsely powdered
3 tbsp sesame (til) powder
Ingredients for the sesame powder:
2 to 3 red chillies
2 tbsp urad dal (split black lentils)
2 tbsp nigella seeds (kalonji)
2 tbsp sesame seeds (til)
1 tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 springs of curry leaves (kadi patta)

- For the sesame powder
- Dry roast & powder the given ingredients.add salt & mix well.

- Heat oil in a kadai & temper mustard seeds.
- Add idlis & sprinkle as much of the sesame powder as desired.
- Mix well, lower the flame & keeo covered for a mte to allow the idlis to absorb the flavour.
- Remove & garnish with coarsely crushed groundnuts.
