1 kg ripe tomatoes
3 onions
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
3 eggs
2 tsp lemon juice
1 coconut, grated
1 tsp saffron (kesar) strands
2 tbsp ghee or oil
Grind masala:
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
ΒΌ vati coconut
7 flakes garlic
12 red chillies
16 peppercorns
Method
- Blanch tomatoes in hot water.
- Cool, skin and liquidise
- Add grated coconut to mixture
- Add 1 cup hot water-keep aside.
- Fry onions light brown
- Add ground masala and roast well.
- Gradually add tomato mixture and mix well.
- Add 2 tsp sugar and salt.
- Close dekchi and let mixture boil.
- Add kesar mixture and simmer with lid closed.
- Lastly add lemon juice and quartered boiled eggs.
