Traditional Sweet Pongal recipe - How to make Traditional Sweet Pongal

Makes 3 to 4 servings
1 cup whole moong (whole green gram)
2 cups rice (chawal)
2 cups grated jaggery (gur)
1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
1/2 cup ghee
1/2 cup chopped cashewnuts (kaju)
1/2 cup chopped raisins (kismis)
salt to taste

- Method
- Heat a kadhai and dry roast the moong for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Cool and combine with rice and wash with water for 2 to 3 times and drain well.
- In a pressure cooker ,add moong dal,rice and jaggery, cardamom powder, salt and 1 tsp of ghee and mix well.
- Pressure cook for 2-3 whistles and allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Add the remaining ghee, fried nuts and mix well.
- Serve hot.
- 4. Add remaining ghee,fried nuts and kismis.
- Serve hot.
