6 cups Vegetable Stock
3 tbsp chawli (cow pea / lobhia)
3 tbsp masoor dal (split red lentil)
3 tbsp moong (whole green gram)
2 tbsp chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1 tbsp ghee
1 1/2 cups Steamed Rice
4 onions, chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
2 tsp black pepper (kalimirch) powder
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
2 tbsp dill (shepu / suva bhaji) or spinach (palak)
salt to taste

- Fry the onions in ghee till golden brown in colour.
- Boil the soaked lentils with the ginger garlic paste together and drain.
- In a large pan mix the boiled
- Rice, lentils, turmeric powder, salt, pepper, coriander, bhaji and lemon juice.
- Serve piping hot in soup plates.
- Non-vegetrians can add ¾ kg mutton cut into small pieces.
- Then the mutton has to be marianted in ginger garlic paste and salt for 1 hour, and follow the above.
