Craving for puris on an upvaas day? Well, nothing wrong in having a piece or two of this tasty, upvaas friendly Banana and Rajgira Puri to satisfy your hunger and top up the energy levels.

These yummy puris are made of a dough of rajgira flour, boosted with mashed bananas and laced with cardamom powder.

Mildly sweet, with the pleasant flavour of banana, these puris taste best when served immediately after preparation.

Ingredients

1/4 cup mashed banana
3/4 cup rajgira flour
1 1/2 tbsp powdered sugar
1/4 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
oil for greasing
oil for deep-frying

Method
    Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a stiff dough, without using any water.
  2. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions.
  3. Grease your palms with little oil, take one portion of the dough, roll it between your palms into a round and flatten it lightly to form a 75 mm. (3”) diameter circle using your fingertips.
  4. Repeat step 3 to make 9 more puris.
  5. Heat the oil in a deep non-stick pan, and deep-fry 2 puris at a time, on a slow flame till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  6. Serve immediately.

Banana and rajgiri puri.. quick and easy recipe.. best during fasting days.. I loved this recipe.. because of its mild sweetness..
