Black Eyed Beans with Mushrooms recipe - How to make Black Eyed Beans with Mushrooms

Makes 4 servings
225 gms chawli (cow pea / lobhia) , washed and soaked overnight in water
225 gms fresh mushrooms (khumbh) , sliced
4 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 large onion , chopped
4 garlic (lehsun) cloves , peeled and finely chopped
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 fresh slit green chilli (optional)
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp fresh coriander (dhania)
2 sticks cinnamon (dalchini)
1 1/2 tsp ground coriander (dhania)
1 tsp ground cumin seeds (jeera)
4 tbsp chopped fresh coriander (dhania)
Method
- Method
- Take enough water in a deep pan and boil the beans till they are soft and tender. Keep aside.
- Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and cinnamon.
- When the seeds crackle, add the onion and garlic and fry until light brown n colour.
- Add the mushrooms, tumeric, chilli, salt, ground coriander and ground cumin and mix well.
- Add tomatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add the beans with a cup of water.
- Bring it to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Serve with a sprinkle of garam masala and fresh coriander.
