Black Eyed Beans with Mushrooms recipe - How to make Black Eyed Beans with Mushrooms

Ingredients

225 gms chawli (cow pea / lobhia) , washed and soaked overnight in water
225 gms fresh mushrooms (khumbh) , sliced
4 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 large onion , chopped
4 garlic (lehsun) cloves , peeled and finely chopped
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1 fresh slit green chilli (optional)
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp fresh coriander (dhania)
2 sticks cinnamon (dalchini)
1 1/2 tsp ground coriander (dhania)
1 tsp ground cumin seeds (jeera)
4 tbsp chopped fresh coriander (dhania)

Method
    Method
  1. Take enough water in a deep pan and boil the beans till they are soft and tender. Keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the cumin seeds and cinnamon.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the onion and garlic and fry until light brown n colour.
  4. Add the mushrooms, tumeric, chilli, salt, ground coriander and ground cumin and mix well.
  5. Add tomatoes and mix well. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Add the beans with a cup of water.
  7. Bring it to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for 30 minutes.
  8. Serve with a sprinkle of garam masala and fresh coriander.
