1/2 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
2 pcs red chillies
1 tsp tamarind (imli) , soaked in water
1 cup grated coconut
salt to taste
for seasoning:
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 pinch of asafoetida (hing)
5 to 6 curry leaves (kadi patta)
Method
- Fry chennadal and red chillies with a drop of oil separately.
- Grind all the ingredients coarsely together adding ½ cup water.
- Season and serve with chapathis and rice.
