  1. Peel the cucumber and cut into small pieces and cook with the moong dal till the dal turns soft.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the remaining ingredients, except coconut, and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Blend in a mixer into a thick paste.
  4. Add the grinded masala to the cucumber and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Temper with mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida and mix well.
  6. Serve hot with chapathi or rice.
