A delightful and delectable lentil recipe, Daal bahar has the lovely mix of black urad dal with chana dal. The spices, tomatoes and fresh coriander leaves add to the look and taste of the dal bahar recipe. Serve in parties with jeera rice.
Daal Bahar recipe - How to make Daal Bahar

2 to 3 medium sized onions
2 to 3 green chillies, slit
1/2 tsp caraway seeds (shahjeera)
1 tbsp oil or ghee
1 big sized tomato, chopped
chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
2 bayleaves (tejpatta)
A handful of each-
a handful of moong (whole green gram) and moong dal (split green gram)
a handful of chana dal (split Bengal gram)
a handful of toovar (arhar)
a handful of toovar (arhar) dal
salt to taste
Method
- Wash the dals & pressure cook.
- Heat oil in a karhai,put shahjeera,green chillies, onion,tomato & a little of the coriander leaves & fry till brown.
- Add the bay leaves & the cooked dals, salt to taste & simmer till done.
- Serve hot with a little ghee or butter on top with plain rice, pulao or phulkas.
