Makes 5 cups
For Jowar Dhani Chivda
5 cups jowar puff (dhani)
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
6 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 tbsp roasted chana dal (daria)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp chilli powder
salt to taste
1/4 cup roasted chana
For jowar dhani chivda
- For jowar dhani chivda
- To make {span class="bold1"}jowar dhani chivda{/span}, heat a deep non-stick pan, add the jowar puffs and sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove and keep aside.
- Heat the oil in the same deep non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida and sauté on a medium flame for 30 seconds.
- Add the roasted chana dal, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.
- Add the turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 10 seconds.
- Add the roasted jowar puffs and roasted chana, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally.
- Cool the {span class="bold1"}jowar dhani chivda{/span} completely and store in an air-tight container. Use as required.

Add curry leaves. It will add in a beautiful flavor to the chivda.

Saute on medium flame for 30 seconds.

Add the roasted chana dal. Also, you can add peanuts, cashew nuts, raisins, almonds, coconut to make Jowar Dhani Ka Chivda flavorful

Cook on a medium flame for 1 minute.

Add the turmeric powder to give bright yellow colour to Gujarati style Juwar Dhani Chevdo. To enhance the flavour of jowar dhani chivda, you can also add garam masala, amchoor powder or coriander-cumin seeds powder.

Add chilli powder.

Add salt.

Mix well and cook for 10 seconds.

Add roasted jowar puffs.
