Makes 4 servings
500 gms bottle gourd (doodhi / lauki) , cut into thin strips
To Be Grounded Into A Smooth Paste
4 green chillies , chopped
1 tbsp soaked chana dal (split bengal gram)
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
4 tbsp freshly grated coconut
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Other Ingredients
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
salt to taste
2 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
curd 1/4 cup
Method
- Method
- Boil the bottle gourd till soft, but do not pressure cook it.
- Add the ground masala and salt, mix well and bring to boil.
- Add the curry leaves and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Heat the oil in a small pan and add the mustard seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add this to the bottle gourd and remove from the flame.
- Add the curds, mix well and serve immediately.
