Makes 4 servings
2 cups cooked rice (chawal)
1 cup chopped orange segments
1/2 cup pomegranate seeds (anardana)
3 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/2 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1/2 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
3 chopped green chillies
5 to 6 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
chopped coriander (dhania) to garnish
Method
- Method
- Heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, asafoetida, curry leaves.
- When the seeds crackle, add the green chillies and saute until the dals turn slightly brown in color and green chilli turns whitish.
- Add the oranges, turmeric powder and mix well.
- Add the salt, rice, mix well adding the pomegranate seeds, orange rind(optional).
- Remove from the flame and keep covered for a minute.
- Serve hot garnished with coriander.
