Roasted Rice flakes or poha makes for an excellent low cal and crunchy snacking item. Add roasted nuts, chopped onion, chillies and masalas and you have a delicious chaat recipe for your family and guests.
Rice Flakes recipe - How to make Rice Flakes
Preparation Time: 7 mts Cooking Time: 20 mts Total Time:
2 cups beaten rice (poha)
1/2 cup green peas
2 potatoes
1 large sized onion
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
a pinch of chilli powder
2 green chillies
1/2 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
2 tbsp coriander (dhania) leaves
1 spring of curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
Method
- Cook poattoes,peas till soft.
- Wash rice flakes and drain.
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds.when they crackle add ginger garlic paste.
- When colour changes add onions,fry till pink.
- Add curry leaves,vegetables.
- Now add rice flakes and remaining ingredients.
- Cook for 4 minutes.
- Add coriander leaves and juice of 1 lime.
- Serve hot.
