Cool Orange Rasam recipe - How to make Cool Orange Rasam

Makes 4 servings
1/4 cup toovar (arhar) dal , cooked
1 tomato , chopped
1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
2 slit green chillies
10 tsp orange juice
To Be Blended Into Rasam Powder
1 tsp toovar (arhar) dal
3 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds
1 tsp peppercorns (kalimirch)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 whole dry kashmiri red chillies
Method
- Method
- Put the tomatoes with 2 cups of water in a deep pan and boil for 5 minutes.
- Add the prepared rasam powder, salt, turmeric powder, asafoedita, mix well and boil for 2 minutes.
- Add the cooked dhal and bring it to boil.
- As soon as the forth comes up, remove from the flame immediately.
- Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds.
- When the seeds crackle, add the curry leaves, coriander leaves and green chiilies and saute for 1 minute.
- Add this seasoning to the dal mixture and mix well.
- Cover and keep aside to cool.
- Add the orange juice and mix well.
- Serve with hot rice.
