Fried dal is an interesting dal recipe with the tuar dal cooked in a sweet and spicy taste. The jaggery adds to the sweetness of the preparation while the tamarind juice and chillies perk up the tanginess and spice quotient. Enjoy the fried dal or dal fry with roti or rice.

Ingredients


To Be Grounded Into A Smooth Powder
1 tsp roasted coriander (dhania) seeds
1/4 tsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera)
2 roasted whole dry kashmiri red chillies

Other Ingredients
1 cup toovar (arhar) dal
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 tsp tamarind (imli) water
1 tsp jaggery (gur)
1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
few coriander (dhania) leaves
salt to taste

Method
    Method
  1. Pressure cook the dal and keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the onions and saute till they turn golden brown in colour.
  3. Add the turmeric ,dal, tamarind water and jaggery, mix well and bring it to boil.
  4. Add grounded masala powder and simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
