A delicious pattice made with purple yam, potatoeas and other ingredients and spices.
Kand ni Pettice recipe - How to make Kand ni Pettice

500 gms purple yam (kand), boiled nad mashed
3 medium sized potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 1/2 cups arrowroot
1 cup grated coconut
1 1/2 tsp green chilli paste
5 to 6 crushed black pepper
3 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
salt to taste
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
7 to 8 cashewnuts (kaju), broken
1 tbsp raisins (kismis)
oil to deep fry
1 cup curds (dahi), cooled and whisked
Method
- Combine kand and potatoes in a bowl, add salt and two tablespoons of arrowroot powder and mix well.
- Divide potato mixture into twelve equal portions. keep aside.
- In another bowl combine coconut, green chillies, ginger, cloves, peppercorns, sugar, lemon juice, coriander leaves, cashewnuts, raisins and salt.
- Divide into twelve portions.
- Take one portion of kand and potato mixture, flatten it in your palm, put one portion of coconut mixture in the centre, gather the edges and roll into a ball. press lightly.
- Similarly prepare pattice with the remaining mixture.
- Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
- Roll the pattice in the remaining arrowroot powder and deep-fry on medium heat till golden.
- Drain onto an absorbent paper and serve hot with chilled yogurt.
