Mango Dal Curry recipe - How to make Mango Dal Curry

Makes 4 servings
2 raw mangoes , peeled and chopped
1 1/2 cups moong dal (split green gram)
1/4 tbsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
7 green chillies
10 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tbsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 cup chopped onions
2 whole dry kashmiri red chillies
4 tbsp oil
3 cups water
Method
- Method
- Clean and wash the moong dal, transfer in a pressure cooker, add the mangoes and salt,turmeric,green chillies and 3 cups of water and mix well.
- Pressure cook for 3 whistles or till the dal is cooked.
- Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
- Mash the dal to make it smooth.
- Heat the oil in small pan and add the mustard seeds,cumin seeds, onions, red chillies, curry leaves and saute till onions turn translucent.
- Add this to the moong dal paste to it and boil for 2 minutes.
- Serve it with hot rice and ghee.
