1/2 cup urad dal (split black lentils)
1/4 cup chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1/4 cup moong dal (split green gram)
1/4 cup toovar (arhar) dal
1 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
1 tsp grated garlic (lehsun)
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 tomato, chopped
a pinch of asafoetida (hing)
little turmeric powder (haldi)
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
2 green chillies, chopped
salt to taste
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) and mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
seeds each
chopped coriander (dhania) for garnish
Method
- Wash all the dals, & put them in pressure cooker & add little salt in it. let it cook for about 4-5 whistles.
- Till the dals r done, heat oil, add mustard seeds & cumin seeds, curry leaves, hing & turmeric powder, & green chillies.
- When it is done, add chopped onions.
- After the onions are done, add chopped tomatoes.
- After the tomatoes are done, add cooked dal, & add salt.
- Allow it to boil for a few minutes.
- Garnish it with coriander.
